John Swinney must be "completely transparent" about how the SNP leadership handled complaints made against their disgraced former council leader Jordan Linden, the Scottish Conservatives have said.
The former SNP leader of North Lanarkshire Council was convicted on Thursday of five sexual assaults against young men.
Central Scotland candidate Meghan Gallacher says "serious questions" remain for those at the top of the SNP.
During Linden's trial, a man targeted by him said that when he sought help from SNP HQ he was "ignored" and his concerns were "downplayed".
Reports at the time also claimed the then SNP chief executive Peter Murrell had ordered people to close ranks and protect Linden.
Ms Gallacher said the current leader of the SNP group on North Lanarkshire Council, Tracy Carragher, also had questions to answer after testifying in Linden's defence.
She added that the whole case "stinks of SNP cover-up and secrecy" and that the party have spent two decades putting their reputation ahead of doing the right thing.
Scottish Conservative candidate for Central Scotland Meghan Gallacher said: "My thoughts are very much with the victims of this vile predator, who abused his position of trust time and time again.
"I hope his conviction and subsequent sentencing will bring them some comfort.
"However, serious questions remain unanswered by John Swinney and others at the top of the SNP as to how they handled complaints they received about Jordan Linden.
"The current SNP group leader in North Lanarkshire, Tracy Carragher, even testified in Linden's defence. So she has questions to answer.
"Swinney must be completely transparent about what his party did and whether or not they brushed complaints made against Linden under the carpet.
"This is yet another case that stinks of SNP secrecy and cover-up.
"We saw it when they failed to support the victim who suffered at the hands of Patrick Grady, who they then welcomed back into the party. We saw it when they tried to stop stories being published about Derek Mackay grooming a young boy.
"And we're seeing it again with the Jordan Linden scandal."
