Scottish Conservatives confirm roles for MSPs who will be “most effective opposition” to SNP

Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay has revealed the portfolios his MSPs will cover at Holyrood – and insisted his team will provide the “most effective opposition” to John Swinney’s failing SNP government.

The new Scottish Conservative team is as follows:

  • Russell Findlay – Leader
  • Rachael Hamilton – Deputy Leader, Business & Tourism
  • Tim Eagle – Housing and Transport (& Chief Whip)
  • Craig Hoy – Finance & Social Security
  • Murdo Fraser – Public Service Reform & Culture
  • Liam Kerr – Energy
  • Miles Briggs – Health & Care
  • Stephen Kerr – Justice (& representative on Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body)
  • Meghan Gallacher – Education & Equalities
  • Alexander Burnett – Local Government
  • Finlay Carson – Rural Affairs & Environment

Findlay says his “dynamic dozen” team of MSPs have the experience and ability to stand up for Scots who are being hammered by sky-high taxes and who are sick of the SNP demanding another independence referendum.

Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay said: “I was deeply disappointed to lose valued colleagues who have been tremendous advocates for their constituents and who took the fight to the SNP.

“But I’m certain that our dynamic dozen Scottish Conservative MSPs will still be the most effective opposition to John Swinney’s SNP.

“Our common-sense team has the experience, ability and work ethic to stand up for hard-working Scots who are being hammered by sky-high taxes and who are sick of the SNP’s obsessive demands for another unwanted referendum.

“We will work tirelessly in standing up to Swinney’s tired minority government that has run out of ideas. And we’re determined to put the focus on the issues that are truly important to the people of Scotland.”
