Findlay: Swinney must apologise for gender madness and ditch Sturgeon’s toxic legacy

John Swinney was today urged to finally apologise for the SNP’s divisive obsession with gender ideology and “ditch Nicola Sturgeon’s toxic legacy”.

At First Minister’s Questions, Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay said John Swinney must distance himself from the policy of gender self-identification so the country can move on and trust can be rebuilt.

He also said the SNP leader should guarantee that all public bodies have new and lawful policies to respect women’s rights in place by the summer.

Russell Findlay said it was important that the SNP swiftly removed the gender self-ID policy from across the public sector and moved on.

Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay said: “SNP politicians were willing to trash women’s rights while pushing their dangerous and divisive ideology.

“Mainstream Scotland has turned against them.

“Common sense, and respect for basic biological truth, have now prevailed thanks to the incredible Scottish women who would not wheesht.

“The SNP’s fringe obsession has cost obscene amounts of taxpayers’ money and wasted huge amounts of government time while public services were neglected.

“Politicians have a duty to hold their hands up. For the country to move on and for trust to be rebuilt, it’s important for the government to accept accountability and own its mistakes.

“John Swinney should apologise to people across Scotland who lost trust in Holyrood because of the SNP’s obsession with gender ideology.

“It showed Holyrood had lost the plot and Nicola Sturgeon was detached from reality.

“John Swinney has a chance to be his own man and go a different way from his closest ally.

“He could guarantee all public bodies will have new and lawful policies to respect women’s rights in place by the summer.

“He could be honest and admit trans women are not women.

“He could hold his hands up and apologise fully and sincerely.

“John Swinney could ditch Nicola Sturgeon’s toxic legacy once and for all.

“He should take the chance to finally bring the era of divisive gender politics to an end.”
